You guys, I love origami. That being said, I am terrible at it. I know that one of my “showcase” DIY projects is that origami flower ball, but that’s where my origami expertise ends. And believe me, I’ve tried. All of my attempts lead to me swearing, balling up the tiny piece of paper and throwing it on the floor. Japanese people are just better at everything, aren’t they?
Anyway, I stumbled upon some cute non-flower origami projects that I thought I might give a go.
Origami necklace. How cool is that? Origami jewelry! I never would have thought to do that. I say that like I am the spring of all ideas…
Origami box. This is such a cute way to jazz up a gift without having to try to wrap it. I’m not great at wrapping (as opposed to RAPPING which I am fabulous at). I think I always end up using too much tape. And the corners are never crisp. The overall effect is ugliness.
Origami hearts. Love this. And you could do the same type of things with a lot of other origami pieces, like these butterflies. How cute would that be in a little girl’s room? Super cute (my favorite phrase), that’s how cute.
Origami dress card. I love these! I was given one a long time ago and hung on to it forever. And I don’t think it was because of whatever was written on the inside. It was just hoarding at its best.
Origami Yoda. AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA! I could never make this, but it was so hilarious that I had to include it.
And the coolest thing about this (not really) is that I found a tutorial that shows you how to put a protective coating on the origami to make it a little less fragile. That might greatly benefit my origami centerpieces.
Now if I could only make those blasted origami cranes. Then I could make something like this:
That wouldn’t be weird hanging in the apartment, right? Right. Oh, and that reminds me. Did I tell you guys that I rewatched The Birds a couple of weeks ago? One of my favorite quotes was from the old bird lady who said:
“I have never known birds of different species to flock together. The very concept is unimaginable. Why, if that happened, we wouldn’t stand a chance! How could we possibly hope to fight them? “
EXACTLY, YOU OLD COOT! Birds are straight from the bowels of hell and if they united, we’d be screwed! They were pecking through the roof and oak doors! GAH! I’ve got to write down my bird stories for you guys. Birds hate me and I HATE THEM RIGHT BACK!
