Are the worst. As you probably noticed when you read Ryan’s post about the microwave makeover, our kitchen is, how you say, total bootay. Even he says so. The most stressful thing to me is that Ryan’s profession is actually a tile setter. He helps people create the kitchen of their dreams via subway tiles and granite and [other awesome things I don’t even know about]. You know who he can’t help? Me. I mean, our landlord might be ok with Ryan retiling the kitchen, but…the tile itself is espensive! Too expensive to waste in a rental. Every few months I ask Ryan, hoping that the price will have decreased by a $1,000 or so. Sadly, it doesn’t.

Imagine my excitement when I re-stumbled (I know I’ve seen them before, but I forgot. Probably because I have about 4,000 pins on Pinterest) upon some awesome ideas. The one that gives me more hope than anything:
Mibo tiles. Ummmm…you guys. These are removable tile tattoos. These will cover over the stupid black and white ghetto tiles we currently have. I wish we could get rid of the stupid countertop, but this is a step in the right direction! Baby steps!!
Plywood backsplash. This girl had a similar situation to ours. She opted to just paint some plywood and velcro it to the original tile. Brilliant. BRILLIANT!!
If you don’t have a backsplash at all, there are some other great ideas. My favorites:
Removable wallpaper. And Spoonflower has TONS of designs to choose from OR you can design your own.
Painted backsplash. I absolutely love this one. The design and color are so cheerful. If I looked at that every morning, maybe I wouldn’t be so crabby all the time. Maybe. (Somewhere out there, Ryan is laughing.)
