And by “AI,” I do not mean artificial intelligence. I mean Adobe Illustrator. Awwwww yeaaaahhhhh!!! I started taking a Skillshare online class and I’m a little excited about it. If you can’t tell. I will soon be able to make my own vectors which will be so magnificent that I will set the design world on FIRE! OR…not.
The class I’m taking is called “Learn the Ins and Outs of Adobe Illustrator” by Brad Woodard. He is an amazing graphic artist and I love his “stuff.” I highly recommend this class if you’re a beginner. I will say that having a grasp of Photoshop is helpful, but not necessary. Granted, I haven’t even finished the class yet, but I’ve already learned so much that it’s ridiculous.
At the beginning of the class, you’re asked to pick an illustration that you like. You’ll basically be tracing the exact picture so that you’ll end up with a replica at the end. I’m using this as my template.
And here’s my progress so far:
I’m still working on the colors and stuff. I originally wanted to do a Shag illustration, but…they were a little too involved for my first project. So I found this Etsy artist who does Shag-esque illustrations and I thought BINGO! If you’d like to buy this print or any of her other prints, take a look at her Etsy shop. I’m not stealing your thunder, Kerry Beary!! (Read: please don’t sue me.)
I’m only 2 full lessons in and I’m in love. I’ve already got my next class in the can - “Digital Illustration: Communicate with Color, Pattern and Texture.” I can’t wait!!!! If you’re interested in taking this class or any other Skillshare class, you can sign up here. And yes, if you use this link, I will get $10 off my next class. I’m a giver, but…I’m a taker too.

Great job! Looks like it’s coming along nicely!
Thanks! I’m very proud of myself even though I’m pretty much tracing. LOL.
