I know that sounds a little generic, but I stumbled upon a few super cool tutorials and I was searching for a way to lump them into one post. “Housewares!” sounded better than “Cool Things!” SO, here are some slammin’ tutorials. Per usual, YOU’RE WELCOME!
Book iPhone dock. I’ll be honest. I’m a little pissed off about this one. Why? BECAUSE I BOUGHT ONE A FEW MONTHS AGO! And mine consists of one book. Blerg. Color me bitter.
Honeycomb shelves. Honeycomb a/k/a hexagon. Does this remind you of science, like it does Ryan? No, right? Regardless, me wanty. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know there’s no more wall space. You don’t have to be so nasty about it.
Wireless router cover. I’m not sure if this would do anything to diminish the signal into our bedroom or not. If it would, this would be a no-go for Ryan. One of his gaming systems is back there and GOD FORBID he couldn’t “interface” with his “friends.” Speaking of gaming, I might start recording him talking to the other players. It’s HILARIOUS! He’s kinda bossy and acts like he’s pretty much the bees knees. All the other players (12-year-olds) must look up to him.
Cement votive holders. I think cement is super cool. Not like cement in general. I’m not an idiot. Floors and countertops are pretty tight (I love that word even though I always feel a little ridiculous saying it). Blah, blah, blah, these things are cool. They’d be awesome for sitting outside. On my patio. Which I don’t own. Now I’m depressed. Thanks, cement.

The book iphone dock is pretty tight. Did you buy one handmade by someone, or was it some Anthro-type shebang?
And now you’ve reminded me of my until-now dormant concrete counter top lust.
I’m assuming you didn’t use the word tight in mockery. But, yeah, I bought the iPhone dock from Etsy. So at least I supported some DIYer. I just wish I was supporting myself.
My friends have a crazy mod house (I’m so jealous) with all concrete floors. It’s enraging. Especially when I come home to my sad 30-year old cracked kitchen tile. I thought it was pink (gack) tile with brown grout. Ryan informed me that the grout is also pink. It’s just caked in dirt. Hurray?
Well Ms. Lizzie, you are the DIYer, right? Chang the tiles.
I am totally doing the wireless router thing. Tick. As for your Book iPhone dock, couldn’t you stick a couple of books under it? Yes, I am the laziest at DIY projects and love taking shortcuts. To be truthful, the shortcut usually begins with calling out to my husband and asking how ‘he would do it’ - which of course he loves to go on to SHOW me exactly how he would do it. Speedy. Voila!
That is EXACTLY what I was thinking - i’ll glue (or just set) a couple of books on top and behind the charger. Voila!
I wish I could change the tiles, but it’s a rental. I bet the landlord would let us (since Ryan’s a tile setter by profession), but it would still be expensive to do for a place we don’t own. BOOOOOOO.
P.S. Your posts always make me laugh out loud. I love that Ryan is the Bee Knees amongst the other players (cough, 12 year-olds?) He he.
Yay! I love it when people say that I make them laugh!
Spoken like a true comedian.
