You guys, it’s been freezing cold here! OK. Settle down. I realize that I live in Southern California, so “freezing” to me might mean balmy to you. I know that as a teenager in Buffalo, shorts were a safe bet when it hit 55 degrees. Here, the heated seats are engaged at 60 degrees. I know, I know. I’m just telling you guys how I feel. I feel freezing cold. You can’t argue with that. It’s one of the things I learned in therapy. If I say it’s freezing, you could point out the actual temperature. If I say I feel like I’m freezing, you need to SHUT YOUR MOUTH! YOU CAN’T TELL ME HOW I FEEL!!! Of course, in therapy, all caps would be frowned upon.
ANYWAY, I stumbled upon a scarf that I want, want, want. And then I stumbled upon others. Of course. I stumble everywhere. Some of them are warm, and some of them are just snazzalicious. I figured I’d give you a sampling. Just in case you also live in a warm climate and, unlike me, would never wear a winter scarf.
Ribbed cowl. I like a good cowl. To me, they seem like they’d be perfect. You’d be warm without having to mess around with the ends of a scarf. They’re always dangling down and getting caught in the zipper of my jacket. Irritating.
Button cowl. You guys, I don’t know what is it about gigantic buttons, but they get me. Every time. I freaking love this scarf. That being said, this link is to an actual Etsy shop. There’s not tutorial. BUT if you know how to knit, this is pretty easy peasy - knit a chunky, short scarf and sew on a button. I’m pretty sure that’s all that would be required. Maybe I’m way off base.
Ruffled scarf. Love this. This was another stick it to “The [wealthy] Man” over at Anthropologie. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Anthropologie, but…the prices are a bit on the utterly outrageous side. So, this woman saw this scarf and decided to recreate it. Well done you!
Braided jersey scarf. I’ve been seeing these things everywhere. They’re made out of jersey fabric. A lot of the time old t-shirts are used. People are so resourceful… Unfortunately, I’m not really sure that I could pull this off. I think my neck might be a bit to stumpy. Whatever, you Audrey Hepburns of the world. You run the risk of being more easily decapitated. Now we’re even.
Spaghetti scarf. The picture above is actually from this blog, but it was so purpley and beautiful that I had to include it. It’s basically the same deal as the braided scarf. It’s just…not braided. Obviously.
So there you have it. Scarves for different climates. You’re welcome. I really want that button one. Stupid giant buttons…

Button holes are pretty easy to knit into a scarf. I say do it! It will be a much faster project than the pouf.
OMG. That reminds me. I finished knitting the pouf!!! Now I’ve just got to get to Ikea to get the filler!
