Bemz and Panyl

Ikea sometimes gets a bad rap about their furniture.  Granted, a lot of it is flimsy, but not all of it.  We bought a Kivik loveseat and chaise a couple of years ago and I freaking love them.  They were not only affordable, but they’re stylish and super comfortable.  But today, I’m going to talk about one of OTHER amazing things about them (and other Ikea couches).  You can change the slipcover and basically have a completely different couch.  Ikea has a few choices, BUT I found a website that has LOTS more – Bemz.  It’s specifically for sprucing up your Ikea fabric furniture.  So I can turn:

Kivik couch covers

GAH!  We’ve already picked one out for ours.  Ted wasn’t too quick to take to the scratching posts, so he pulled a Freddy Krueger on the sides.  (Side note – I’ve started using citrus spray on the couch and it works really well as a deterrent.)  I.  Cannot.  Wait!!!  Oh, and another great thing is that Bemz will send you free samples so that you can see what they look like in person before you decide.  Brilliant!

Now on to Panyl.  Panyl lets you customize your non-fabric Ikea products.  Like this:

Vinyl options

I mean, come on.  Ikea furniture has never looked so awesome!  I mean, COME ON!!!  I love those chevrons so much that I almost feel angry that I don’t have those Billy shelves!  Oh, and they also have:

Ekby Jarpen shelvesThe shelves we used to make the cat shelves.  When I saw that I just about screamed.  Do you think Ryan would kill me if I suggested putting these on?  Probably not, right?  He just LOVES all the projects I give him.  Winkity wink…

So keep your eyes peeled for pix of the new couch!  It’s going to be EPIC!!  Unless it’s totally not and I hate it in which case I’ll just hope you forget all about this post.

Soooo you follow me on Pinterest and probably have caught wind of this, but I’m a BIG fan of IKEA in general and IKEA hacks specifically! We are about to buy a KARLSTAD Sofa in Sivik dark gray and swap out the legs for mid-century modern ones. Instant awesome couch for a fraction of the cost!

I hadn’t heard of Panyl, but you can bet I am now pinning it. Another one that does similar things is O’verlays: instant hack. (

Do you follow IKEA Hacks? Do it!
