I thought it would be a good time to tell you about a few things that are going to be happening here at The Hip Soiree.
1 - Videos. “Oh God, Lizzie. Not more rapping.” you say while rolling your eyes. Whatever, you guys. It was funny, admit it. But, NO. My old home movies! HA! Joking. I’m going to start putting together video tutorials. There are a couple of reasons why. First, I am pretty bad at photo tutorials. The last one I did had something like 25 steps. If I stumbled upon a tutorial that had 25 steps, I would IMMEDIATELY hit the back button on my browser to get to my Google results page. Second, it’ll be funny. Right?!
2 - A new ”column.” I’m toying with the name, but the gist is going to be something similar to Dirty Jobs. You know the show with that adorable Mike Rowe where he goes around doing gross stuff. No, I will not be prancing around in reindeer poop. BUT, I thought that if people e-mail me with some craft projects to try, I will try them. No matter how dumb or difficult it would be. And regardless of the outcome, I will document it all. I guess, that’s also a little like An Idiot Abroad. I will be a crafty Karl. Only slightly less crabby. SLIGHTLY.

Yay, can’t wait for video tutorials. It’s so much easier to pick something up when you can watch it being done.
I’m scooping myself a little here, but you know what dumb semi-crafty thing is unbelievable in how easy you think it will be vs. how difficult it really is? Paint by number. Not even kidding. I’m planning to post on it soon, but am a slo-mo, so we’ll see how soon “soon” turns out to be.
Well, hopefully they’ll be helpful. At this point, I’m just hoping they won’t be stupid.
It’s interesting that you mention that because my friend just did one and mentioned that exact same thing - it’s not easy. SO, she gave me the rest of the little kit she had which means I have a paint-by-number waiting for me at home! I am a TERRIBLE artist/painter, so this should be interesting…
