Tutorial Tuesday - Reverse Applique!

For some reason, “regular old” applique makes me nervous. Maybe it’s because I tried to use my zigzag stitch (what’s standardly used to affix an applique) when I first got my sewing machine and almost stroked out because it was zig-zagging all willy-nilly. Stressful. I know that if I gave it another go now, it would probably be much better than it was when I was just starting. But I’m in no rush. And then I saw this idea - REVERSE applique. Not only does it take the whole zig-zag nonsense out, but I like the look of it better. There’s:

Flower skirt. Love. It. LOVE! IT! They have a heart skirt in the same tutorial that’s also adorable. And I’m not really a heartish person.

Coasters. I currently have 8 quilted coasters on my coffee table. Ryan never uses them (he’s obviously a caveman who thinks coasters are redonk), and I use the same one over and over again. Well, I try to mix it up a bit. On top of that, I “drunk shopped” 10 more coasters when I was at Fishs Eddy in New York City last year. (The wheels fell off in that store, you guys. Remind me never to have a “couple” cocktails before shopping). Long story short, I am in need of 0.00 coasters. I am in want of these coasters (honestly, many more). Would it be weird if you came to my house and my coffee table had 20 coasters strewn all over it? Probably not, right? Totally normal.

Pin cushion. The pin cushion I made last year is a little worse for the wear and I’ve been thinking about making a new one. First on the list - this one. And, side note, Jiminy Cricket! Where can I get me some of those pins? Mama likes!

Leaves tote. I’m happy to have found another non-heart tutorial. I mean, you can really make whatever design you want. Off of the top of my head, maybe a silhouette of Ralph. Or maybe you want to have hearts floating all over the place. What do I know?

Dead(?) frog shirt. Amirite? It looks either like a flattened frog on the road or the one you had to dissect in Biology class. It made me laugh, though, so I included it. If I had a kid (be thankful that I don’t as it would probably be a demon spawn swinging from the rafters), I would *make* *it* wear things like this. Just so I could laugh when I saw the puzzled looks on people’s faces.

So…get to it!
