Oh man. It was busy at the Queen AnnE this weekend. As I’m putting the final touches for this weekend’s party together, I decided to make a few extra things. One of which is a bow tie for my brother-in-law. Then Ryan wanted me to make him a pocket square, so I figured I’d just make him a new tie to match (which reminds me to look up whether or not pocket squares are supposed to “match” a tie or just be a complementing color). Anyway, here is a little round-up of different tie tutorials. I know, I know. You’re welcome.
Standard tie. When I first looked at this project and was reading (read: glancing at every third word) I was all “1 1/2 yards of INTERFACING???” Yeah, this is for 4 ties. Seriously, one of these days my “reading” is going to somehow get me killed. I’ll be like “There’s a sign that says mountain and some sort of Ghostbusters sign on it and AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!” I’m dead. I just fell off a cliff.
Skinny tie. I’m not too crazy about the skinny tie for some reason, but I’m probably going to make one for Ryan for the party. This is a little too skinny for him, but I’m a giver. I don’t want to hold you back from making one.
Standard tie to skinny tie. Pretty dang cool. Especially since you can buy a tie at a thrift store for $1.
Bow tie. First off, I defy you to easily find a pattern for a man’s bow tie. Not a “little” man. A “regular” man. These tutorials kept tricking me. They’d show the bow tie, so I’d go look at the post only to see a picture of a newborn baby wearing a bow tie. Or of a bow tie attached to a piece of elastic. UGGGGHHHHHH! Anyway, this is not the pattern I used to make the bow tie for my brother-in-law. The pattern I used wasn’t adjustable, but he gave me his neck size. That being said, I’m going to make this one just in case.
And of course…
Dog tie. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAA! I was going to surprise you all with a picture of Ralph wearing one of these, but I haven’t had time. And it fit so well with the whole tie theme. One day, though…
