I Guess This is Goodbye

Well, this can’t be too big of a surprise. I thought I was going to rise like a phoenix, but I’m drying out like a white turd. Guys, I just can’t write a blog about DIY anymore. I think I’m DIY’d out. Not completely. Just enough to not want to write about it. I’m going to keep the blog up and running for as long as it’s economically feasible. And I will still answer comments. Thousands of people have liked that cat shelf “tutorial,” so I can’t leave them hanging. But I’m not going to be writing here anymore.

That being said, I started a new, simple blog where I basically will be talking about, well, anything and everything. If you think my writing is funny, I think you’ll like it. If you are only here for the DIY and the party ideas, you’ll have to shuffle on off to somewhere else. The new blog is…I think I nailed it… “Ugh - The Story of My Life” (www.ugh-life.com). I’m not going to promise to write a lot. That was another thing that caused me to burn out. I’ll write as much as, well, as much as I want.

So, this is me signing off. Second star to the right and straight on till morning. That’s how you get to Neverland Ranch, right? Oh man. I’m kinda going out on a crap joke. Oh well.

Stitch Fix

So, I decided to try something a little new and different. I decided to try Stitch Fix. “What’s Stitch Fix?!” you ask excitedly (you guys get so easily riled up). Stitch Fix is a company that, for $20 a month, will hand-pick five clothing/accessory items and mail them to you. You fill out a “style profile” which gives them your measurements along with your general style (they have pictures for you to choose from). You can help the stylists out by creating a Pinterest board with some ideas of things you like as well. After you receive your stuff and try everything on, you can buy the ones you like (the $20 goes toward the purchase) or return them all. The shipping is free both ways. You can set up your account so that it only sends you things when you ask for them or you can ask them to send things monthly (or at other intervals).

Why am I doing this? I’m not really sure. I figure that I can satisfy my curiosity for $20. Maybe I’ll be transformed into someone really cool (read: does not wear the same v-neck tee everywhere I go) without ever having to search around 100 different stores. Granted, I don’t have a lot of faith that the things I am going to be sent will actually fit and/or look great, but eh. It’s worth a shot. Also, the box everything sent in is really adorable. I’m such a sucker for stuff like that. (Don’t ever ask me to bring a bottle of wine to your house - I know nothing about wine and choose a bottle strictly on how much I like the label).

My first delivery is schedule for June 20th. I’ll let you know how it goes.

 

P.S. I know I still haven’t posted pictures from vacation, but I got a little distracted by…well, Netflix. And then so much time went by that I kinda forgot. But I’ll share some shots. I promise.

Airstream Redo

Don’t get too excited. We have not yet purchased an Airstream. The operative word being yet. That being said, I think I’ve successfully impressed upon Ryan my “need” for one. As it is apparent that I will be stuck working a full-time office job until the day I die(ish) and will forever live in a tiny apartment (unless we move to a less desirable area - to me), I think I deserve a treat. Albeit, a very large treat that will cost blood, sweat and tears (and money, obvs), and take a long time to complete. But I need it this year. Unless something catastrophic (or Ryan gets very little work or I am unable to stop buying a ton of dresses from eShakti), it’s on like Donkey Kong. Some days, this thought is the only thing that stops me from walking into my office and saying “Screw you guys, I’m going home” while giving inappropriate hand gestures. It gets more and more difficult every day. First world problems, I know.

ANYWAY, this has given me a renewed excitement when I see things like bathroom tiles. Guys, I have to see beautifully tiled bathrooms and kitchens constantly because that’s what Ryan does for a living. It’s torture. One day, I’ll post some pictures of the things he’s done. But now, I can look at this and say…total possibility:

Will I be able to have a super cool concrete pillar in the middle - no. Will that tile be out of style in a few years - maybe. But as of this minute, I love this with all my being. Maybe I should go a little simpler, though.

Right? Fun fact - Ryan did a bathroom just like this recently. Well, the tiles were a little larger, but it was beautiful. He said it was a pain, but…that’s his problem, not mine. Aren’t I a peach?

As for the interior…hells bells. I just saw some ideas that blew me sockless out of the roof.

So…prepare yourself. Watch, it all turns into a nightmare we wish we never attempted. Those odds aren’t that small, but whatever. You’re all a bunch of naysayers sometimes.
