Tutorial Tuesday – Mod Podge!

Are you all “mod what?”  Well then, let me introduce you to the wonder of Mod Podge.  Mod Podge is heaven in glue form.  Okay, I’ll dial it down.  Mod Podge is glue used for decoupage.  I know some of you might be thinking decoupage sounds totally stupid, but YOU’RE TOTALLY STUPID!!  You can make so much stuff with it!  Let me break these down for you:

Decorative luminaries.  RIGHT?!  I can’t even say anything about this as there are no words for how much I like them.  I’m a sucker for anything with vintage photos.

Mod Podge coasters.  I love coasters!  And matryoshka dolls (yes, I had to look up the correct spelling)!  And owls!  Of course, you don’t need to do either of those designs.  How about pictures of me?  That would be equally as adorable.

Decoupage photo letter.  You guys, you know how I feel about typography.  Since I don’t have kids, I would use pictures of all my sisters.  HAHAHAHAA!  They’d totally think that was hilarious.  Well, they’d all want to approve the pictures I’d use first (as would I), so I’ll probably nix that idea.  Maybe I’d use pictures of neon signs!  GAH!  I’m totally doing this!

Decorative plates.  Obviously, you can’t put these in the dishwasher.  Even in the dishwasher consists of your two hands and a sink full of sudsy water.  But that doesn’t mean you can’t use them!  How about to serve some pastries (I say that like I serve pastries all the time which I’ve never done).  Or even hang on the wall.  Or just stare at because they are so pretty.  I would probably do that last one.

Custom tray.  I’ve actually made one of these.  Of course, I don’t have a picture.  I seriously need to get on the ball.  ANYWAY, I used a plastic tray from Ikea which cost, like, a penny or something, scrapbook paper and heavenly glue (aka Mod Podge).  Fabric would also be totally awesome.  Done and done.

So, that’s five tutorials out of a million.  And, get this, there’s actually a blog called Mod Podge Rocks that is dedicated to Mod Podge tutorials.  And there are TONS and TONS of them.  Seriously, you’re dumb* if you don’t give it a go.

*Is the word “dumb” offensive to people who can’t speak.  Things I wonder about…

Use pix of your nieces and nephews for your decoupage letter! But what letter would you make?

A for aunt? L for Lizzie or Lewis? M for Miner? N for nieces and nephews? So many choices…. :-)
